This course is about being able to turn a flat drawing or sketch into real looking clothing using 3D software. You will get lectures that cover tool and concepts along with Marvelous designer files of the final output and textures used. I would however recommend to look around the web for your own textures for more creativity. This course is broken down into two projects. The first which is designing a Shirt will focus on using each tool and each video is dedicated just for that so that it is easier to reference if needed. The Second Project is the Pants. This project is broken into three separate videos. Third area of focus will cover animating your garment, import your own avatar, learning more about textures and exporting your garment images.

By taking this course will be learning about a tool that covers more than just fashion but it open up other industries like game and movies. You will be learning a skill where you can either save money for your fashion company or provide 3D clothing for your game characters.

You will learn what is needed for this course.

Marvelous Designer : Overview

UI Environment / Modes

A quick intro to what are the two modes in Marvelous Designer.

UI Environment / Windows

You will learn where things are located. This will help with being familiar with the software, making it easier to approach.

UI Environment / Navigating the Scene

Using 3D can be easy if simplified and this lesson will show a very basic take on doing that. You will learn to Pan, rotate and zoom.

UI Environment / Change Screen Size

When working on a garment sometimes you may need more space to see or just get things done. Maybe you have more than more monitor. Either way this lesson show you very quickly how.

Constructing a Shirt in 3D

Setup Pattern

In our first video we will set up a pattern to be used as a guide to be traced. I have provided the files needed.

Using Edit Pattern Tool

In this lesson you will be able to create a pattern in the 2D Window. Which is at its core the basic of this software.

Copy / Symmetric Paste Tool

Being able to Copy a pattern is great but being able to Copy and have that copy be a symmetrical version of the original is better! While not always needed for all situations, it will save you so much time during your garment editing process.

Sewing & Arranegment II

More sewing action!

Free Hand Sewing Tool

You will learn how the Free Hand Sewing tool works.

Merge Two Patterns

You will learn how to combine two patterns into one pattern.

Internal Polygon Tool

Just like the edit pattern tool, the Internal pattern tool allows you to create lines and or shapes directly on the pattern you make. You will learn how to create seam lines / hem lines for the shirt.

Cut and Sew Tool

After using the internal polygon tool you will use Cut and Sew to separate your garment into more pieces thus creating seams lines around the sleeve, bottom hem and neck.

Adding a Texture/Fabric

You will learn how to change the color and  fabric/print of your garment.

Edit the Fold Angle

You will earn to change the fold angle which will help your seam edges stand out more. The Fold angle tool is a great tool to learn and can be used in so many different ways other than what is shown. It all starts with the basics!

Add Particle Distance for More Garment Detail

Since this is 3D, These objects are really made up with objects called "Polygons" Once these polygons increase then the object becomes more dense, smoother and sharper. When you increase the "Particle distance" You are making the garment smoother.  You will learn how to change it and when a good time to do so.

Saving your Garment

You will learn how to save your Garment...always save your garment.
I would suggest saving your garment during the construction. Try not to wait until the end just in case!

Constructing a Pant in 3D

Create a Pant : Part 1

Taking everything we have learned from the Shirt we will apply here making the pant.
There are three parts, this is part one, enjoy!
