We will cover important

Welcome to the course!

1
Welcome

Meet Alan, Your instructor.

2
Objective

What will you learn and what are the final objectives?

zBrush

1
Setup Reference Image and begin sculpting

We begin by setting up our reference image using spotlight and creating the initial body mesh from dynamesh.

2
Beak

Using the insert sphere brush we create the top and bottom shapes for our beak. At this point we need to make sure it is still low resolution so we have an easy time shaping our mesh.

3
Eyes

Next, we create two simple eyes and eyebrows. We use our insert sphere brush as well as draw our eyebrows using tubes.

4
Wings

We will take advantage of the very powerful tube brush and draw our wings from the side. Then we will make them wider while the symmetry setting is on so we can work on both wings at the same time.

5
Legs

Using zSpheres we will build our leg and then mirror it to the other side.

6
Feathers

In this lesson we will create the feather for our character. We will learn how to use polypainting and the importance of adding more resolution to achieve higher quality during painting.

7
Feathers - Duplicate

We quickly duplicated our original feather mesh and rotated each clone. It is very important to use shift during our model rotation in order to achieve perfect alignment.

8
Highlights - Polypainting

Lets add a little detail by painting highlights on top of our model. Adding extra painting detail can make a huge difference during our final render.

9
External Renderer - Keyshot

Lets take a look at rendering our character in Keyshot! We will use the new zBrush to Keyshot bridge plugin to bypasss setting up uvs, all of our polypainting detail will simply show up in Keyshot without any extra work.

Tips and Tricks

1
UI Customization

Move your ui around creating your very own custom layouts and colors!

2
Cartoon Feather Using Texture Map

Lets create a cartoon feather using the texture map technique.

3
Subtracting Shapes or Creating Holes

Performing boolean operations (subtracting shapes) in zBrush is simple and fun!

4
IMM Brushes - Insert Multi Mesh

zBrush includes amazing IMM brushes loaded with awesome premade meshes.

5
Creating a Realistic Eyeball via Spotlight Projection

Lets create a beautiful eyeball by projecting a texture onto dynamesh sphere and adjust the resolution to hold our rich image.

6
Polygroups - Paint Inside Cavity (Mouth)

Cool trick to split your shapes into multiple pieces and only paint one section at a time.

7
Panel Loops

Using the panel loops will allow you to create super clean and polished forms, perfect for robots or anything that requires clean shapes.

8
Shadow Box - Extruding 2D into 3D

Use shadow box to quickly create geometry from your masks or import PSD files from photoshop and use them to extrude clean 3d dynamesh shapes!

You can view and review the lecture materials indefinitely, like an on-demand channel.
