Course Intro and resources

Overview of course

Welcome to the course here is a brief outline of the course ahead of you.

Please download all the resource files to install these watch lecture 20, this shows how to install external files into ZBrush.

Course Introduction

In this lesson we will look at what we want to achieve, by reviewing our concept sketch.

Hard Surface Modelling in ZBrush

First things first the capsule

Lets focus our attentions first on the main part of the robot.

Adding the shoulder section

In this lesson we will build our shoulder section.

Modelling the foot

In this lesson we will model the foot.

Deletion of the foot

As we will redo the foot lets show you how to delete it.

Adding Bevels to our Geometry

Adding bevels is a good way to make your model more striking as light will hit these edges.

Adding the skirting to the model

In this lesson we will add the skirting and the front intake.

Redoing the foot

Lets now redo the foot, and get it right this time! :)

Finishing the foot

Lets finish the foot.

Adding creases

Adding creases will harden our edges this is great as when we subdivide we want to keep the edges hard and not let them get smoothed too much.

Potential problems with creasing edges

Undoubtably you will run into problems when you start to crease edges we will look how this can be avoided or fixed.

Lets now clean up our model.

Increasing resolution in our model

Now all our creasing is sorted we can safely start to subdivide our model, remember to save a copy!

Quick transpose

As our model was in the wrong orientation we will now fix this by using the transpose plugin.

If you do not have this it can be downloaded from pixelogics website!

Adding detail through alphas

Using alphas is a great way to add detail to your model.

Using ZProject for our grill right and wrong methods

In this lesson we will show you how to model the grill I suggest you watch the whole video before proceeding.

Adding noise

Adding noise using the surface editor, great for applying a general noise filter, this tool have many more features.

Timelapse of the whole process in 10 mins

Sit back and have a break watch this time lapse speeded up 4X of the whole process.

Customise your light box

In this lecture I will show you how to add the resources supplied to the light box within ZBrush.

Set up for final render Export and Doc size plus custom views

In this lesson I will show you how to set up the Doc size of exported images, also we will set up a custom view and export our renders.

Exporting our materials

Lets now start to output our material renders, in preparation for Photoshop.

Creatinga colour diffuse

Lets now create a colour diffuse.

Finishing our model and last renders from ZBrush

In this lesson we will use cavity masking and output the final render from ZBrush.

If you have made it this far well done we are now in the final stage enjoy...

Compositing in Photoshop

Photoshop setting up the files

Lets get our renders into one file so its easy to edit and composite them.

Quick overview of the process

In this lesson we will have a look at the process we will use to add the rugged paint effect.

Masking non distructively
In this lesson we will set up our layer masking and start adding wera and tear.
Swapping the diffuse colour

Up till this point we have worked with the red diffuse render lets now swap this for our coloured version.

Adding a drop shadow and More wear and Tear

We will carry on and add a bit of a shadow just uder the foot to ground it, we will also keep refining our wear and tear.

Adding extra details

In this lesson we will add a few extra details such as an LCD panel and some text.

Using textures to finish our comp

In this lesson we will use a texture to add extra detail, this brings us to the end of the course I realy hope you have learnt a ton of new things here, and if you like my teaching style I have loads more courses for you.

Have fun and keep up the modelling...
